I checked out their myspace and there is only one 30 second clip so I will need to find some more on youtube or where ever. Right now I'm listening to Arkells a lot. They are not hard rock or anything but you should look them up. They are semi-local to my area

Cypress is an old school hiphop band (Insane in the Brain, Hits from the Bong, Dr. Greenthumb,etc.).
VAST is in Clay Porter's F1RST if you've seen that (my favourite riding vid). Kind of alt rock
Arkells are a semi local band getting more famous by the day. They're just a rock band comparable to The Stills and bands like that.

ya I've listened to some Soundgarden. I'm not that big into it, it's pretty grungy lol. I don't like Chris Cornell on the whole, but he's got one hell of a voice. I'm more of a Rage Against the Machine, Tom Morello fan. Apparently Zach de la Rocha has a new band.
